I've been getting a lot of questions about our new Odroid Retropie retro video game system.
I have been selling Raspberrry Pi Retropie systems for a long time. Recently however, the Odroid Retropie scene has been exploding. While Raspberrry Pi Retropie systems struggle to play Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64 (N64) games, the Odroid Retropie systems play them flawlessly. After building my first Odroid Retropie system, I couldn't believe the difference.
The first game I loaded up was the ever so popular Goldeneye oo7 for the N64. The Raspberry Pi 3B+ just wouldn't play this game no matter what I would do. The Odroid however - just wow. As soon as I started playing the game there was such a noticeable difference.
Next game - Cruisin' USA for the N64 - Once again flawless gameplay.
I moved on to both the Sega Dreamcast and the Playstation PS1 games that the Pi has isues with. After playing through a bunch of my favorites and wasting more time than I planned with testing, every game worked perfectly.
So, while the Raspberry Pi 3b+ Retropie is still an awesome system for your truly retro video games, the Odroid has much more to offer if you're looking for the N64, Dreamcast and PS1 experience.
